Sizing images
Hey Richard. I think I fixed the image sizing issue. Apparently ImageMagik (a server program) wasn't installed. I did that and tested it out on the Kiva page here with the MFI map. Seems ok from my end. Let me know if images are working ok on yours! --Joe 14:54, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
- Looks good, thanks! RichardF 14:59, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
Sysop
I set your status to Sysop which, I assume, gives you access to a few more features and functions. And also lets you ban anyone that tries to screw things up when this goes public!
Great job on the main page. It looks better each time I see it!--Joe 18:41, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks! RichardF 19:48, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Announcement
Thanks again for all the work you've done on this, Richard! I love the layout of the main page and think this is going to be a great resource. Whenever you feel the Wiki is ready to go public (or rather, be announced), go ahead and post a thread on the forum. I'm sure a lot of people will jump in to help out. Another option could be to PM the link to anyone who has shown and/or has a lot of interest in the history/inner workings of Kiva and would probably be interested in writing things up, if you think it should be fleshed out a bit more before being announced. Your call. :) --Joe 10:15, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks again for getting this started, Joe. I think it's about ready to go live. I was going to putz around with a few pages today, but I think enough of the framework is there to open it up. I'll post something after I'm off work, probably Friday or Saturday, so I'll have this weekend to watch it more. ;-) RichardF 10:47, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
- I think I found the setting to force registration before editing. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:%24wgGroupPermissions When I logged out and tried to edit something it said I had to be logged in. So far so good. I like this wiki software, but so many of the settings need to be manually changed in the config files and re-uploaded. You'd think something this slick would have some sort of central admin control panel page. Go figure.
- Whoops. I just noticed the thread on the forum and your PM from there :) Cool so we're good to go then. --Joe 20:31, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
- Going live this weekend works for me :) I've gotten sucked into this one, as I did with the last one I contributed to. It's almost addicting to want to keep going and going. Next thing you know its 4am.... lol. So yeah, maybe now would be a good time to bring in other people now that we've got the basic format down. --Joe 20:24, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
(edit conflict! ;) Semi-protection is much better! :-) I like MediaWiki too. Unfortunatley, I don't know much about the systems and add-ons, so it's a bit frustrating when something doesn't "work" how I expect it. I'll try to eventually look at that add-ons list you showed me and take some guesses at what might be needed for the wiki markup to do what it does at WP. This weekend works for me, especially since I already announced it at the furums! >;-o) RichardF 20:38, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
Image namspaces
I manually semi-protected all the pages except those in the image namespace. When I look at those pages, they still look unprotected. Are you sure the setting "took" for all namespaces? RichardF 20:54, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
- What exactly is the image namespace? I'm befuddled about that. --Joe 22:43, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
- Go to Special:Allpages then click on the Namespace list. That's all the places pages can go. RichardFtalk 23:04, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
